The Shifting Landscapes of Great Sand Dunes National Park
Described as Colorado’s most unexpected natural wonder, Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve presents itself as a spectacular paradox: magnificent towering sand dunes (the tallest in North America) juxtaposed by the snow-capped peaks of the Sangre de Cristo mountain range to the east and green grasslands to the west.
A photographer’s paradise and magnet to adventurous spirits in search of stunning and dramatic scenery, Great Sand Dunes certainly doesn’t disappoint. Throw in the unique ability to camp out in the dunes themselves and it’s not hard to recognize this as a very special place.
